Writing Mindfully: Exploring Our Transforming Stories
A Workshop with Carrie Newcomer

Workshop: January 21-23, 2011

Cedar Cross Retreat Center, Louisburg, North Carolina

Concert: Sunday, January 23, 2011, 7:30 pm

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, Wade Avenue, Raleigh, NC

The workshop focuses on exploring big ideas through the power of small details and personal stories.
Participants will explore how the art of paying attention to the small moments and everyday miracles can open our hearts and our art to the presence of the Sacred.

We will also explore how our daily personal stories of hope, struggle, and transformation connect us
to the spiritual journey and our shared human condition.

Carrie will guide us through writing exercises, deep listening, and focused discussion to help us to identify the important stories of our lives and times,
and to envision how we as individuals can participate in new stories of hope and possibility.

This workshop is open to women of all ages and all levels of writing experience.

Carrie has designed this workshop to facilitate the development of our unique voices,
as we discover the power of our own stories, in a very safe, nurturing and encouraging setting.

"To attend one of Carrie Newcomer's workshops,
to hear her sing and speak of the art and craft of writing the truths of our lives,
is to be inspired, encouraged, and heartened
by a wise woman who is profoundly 'letting her life speak.'
Hers is a ministry of touching our 'sacred ordinaries'
while sharing the stories of hers.
She gives participants the audacity to believe
that what each of us live and think and feel and do
is important,
and that with courage and compassion and tenacity,
we will change the world.
The workshops become a holy time and space
for such wild dreams and vision."

— The Rev. Carol A. Mader
