These drums are loosely based on a Middle Eastern drum called a "doumbek" or goblet drum. The name relates to the two different
sounds the drum makes -- a low "doum" when struck in the center of the head, and a higher, sharper "bek" when struck on the rim.
They are fun to play, and a manageable size to transport.
